About thirty
high-level civil servants in the field of health of the EU Member States will convene in
Helsinki on 26 - 27 October to discuss health issues. The themes to be discussed include
e.g. the future public health strategy of the EU and taking account of health in other EU
policies.
The Finnish Presidency has invited representatives of the applicant countries to take
part in the discussions on the second day of the meeting. The discussions with the
applicant countries concern their participation in the activities relating to the
EUs health policy, among other things preparation for the co-operation in the field
of communicable diseases.
The Meeting of a High-Level Committee on Health is one of the official meetings under
the Finnish Presidency. The agency responsible for the arrangements is the Finnish
Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, in co-operation with the EU Commission.
