European Chief Medical Officers discuss quality and performance in health care in Helsinki

The Chief Medical Officers of the EU countries are gathered to discuss current issues in health care and health policies on the European level. The informal meeting in Helsinki gives them a chance to exhange views on topics such as quality and performance in health care, issues of immunization, food safety and rapid alert systems. One topic will be the emerging problems of treatment and perscription via internet. The improvement of cooperation between the EU and the WHO is also on the agenda.

The European Chief Medical Officers meeting will take place in Helsinki on September 30 and October 1st. The Chief Medical Officers come from the EU-member states. Representavies of the World Health Organization and the Council of Europe are also participating in the meeting. The chairman of the meeting is Director general Kimmo Leppo from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in Finland.
